This market in the quaint village of Stanley on Hong Kong Island's south coast is a huge hit with locals, expats and tourists for good reason: its enormous selection of brand-name clothing items (large sizes are available) and accessories, jewellery, home furnishings, souvenirs, ornaments and Oriental knick-knacks are sold at reasonable prices in a picturesque warren of lanes.
Located near the Nan Lian Nunnery, the Chi Lin Nunnery is established in 1934 and renovated in Tang dynasty style (AD 618-907). This nunnery is a large temple complex of elegant wooden architecture, treasured Buddhist relics and soul-soothing lotus ponds. The complex also includes a series of temple halls, some of which contain gold, clay and wooden statues representing divinities such as the Sakyamuni Buddha and bodhisattvas.
"Floating Village of Aberdeen", a quaint and charming village that is not far from the heart of Hong Kong, but seems like light-years away from it. Here you see rows upon rows of the old-fashioned junks and sampans, some house boats where the fishermen and their families still live. It is a very picturesque scene, with the unexpected touch of modernity right and left. The high-rises framing the harbor and the ultra-modern yachts moored not far away complete this picture of contrasts. You will then get to enjoy a 20 minutes Sampan ride around this fishing village.
