Visit West Lake - the symbol of Hangzhou - which boasts enchanting natural scenery and embark on a boat cruise on the lake. The lake was listed as a World Cultural heritage Site by UNESCO in 2011, and was touted as one which offers the most beautiful sights in China all-year round. Lotus flowers are a common sighting during the July season.

Afternoon: Lingyin Temple and Song Dynasty Imperial Street
Visit the 1,600-year-old Lingyin Temple that features many grottos and religious rock carvings, the most famous of which is the incredible Flying Peak. You will find Temple of Soul's Retreat (Lingyin Temple) in a long, narrow valley between Peak Flown From Afar (Fei Lai Feng) and North Peak to the northwest of the West Lake at Hangzhou in Zhejiang Province. It is without doubt a premier showpiece in the West Lake environs and is notable also as one of the ten most famous Buddhist temples of China. In 1961 it was listed for protection as a key provincial historical and cultural site and is considered a leading centre for research relative to Chinese Buddhist culture. End the day with a stroll on the Song Dynasty Imperial Street, which is lined with many varieties of shops, and snack bars.

First stop is the UNESCO World Heritage Site West Lake that has influenced poets and painters throughout the ages for its natural beauty and historical relics, and it has been among the most important sources of inspiration for Chinese garden designers, as evidenced by the impact it had on various Chinese classical gardens.
Next, head to Lingyin Temple, one of the 10 most famous Buddhist temples of China. It is also known as the "Temple of the Soul's Retreat' or 'Temple of Inspired Seclusion' for the setting has a quiet and beautiful grandeur that encourages a feeling of peace and for contemplation. Visit one of the true masterpieces of ancient Chinese architecture, the Six Harmonies Pagoda located on Yuelun Hill overlooking the Qiantang River. The purpose for building the pagoda was to calm the tidal waters of the Qiantang River. The pagoda was named 'Liuhe' to signify the harmony of heaven, earth, and the four directions: east, west, south and north.

Visit the Dragon Well Tea Village, where you could know more about tea-making process (tea planting) and Chinese tea culture. The excellent quality of Dragon Well Tea is guaranteed by a super elaborate production process. The picking of the leaves emphasizes the importance of timeliness. As a famous among tea growers saying goes, "Tea leaves are a treasure if picked earlier while it is useless as grass if picked too late." Dragon Well Tea leaves are picked during different periods of time. Generally speaking, the best is picked before Qingming Festival, which is called Mingqian Tea. The one picked before Grain Rain are fairly good and are called Yuqian Tea.
Visit Six Harmonies Pagoda, a masterpiece of ancient Chinese architecture built to calm the tidal waters of Qiantang River and aid in navigation. This pagoda is an octagonal building with a height of 196.49 feet (59.89 meters). Seen from the outside, the pagoda has 13 storeys and there are 104 iron bells hung at every corner of the eaves. Because of this magnificent appearance, locals consider it a brave general standing on the bank of Qiantang River. However, if you step into the pagoda, you will find only seven floors inside. A spiral staircase was built inside the tower, leading to the top floor. Each floor of the pagoda consists of four parts: exterior wall, a ring-shaped corridor, interior wall, and a small chamber. The chambers are used to enshrine Buddha figures. Looking through windows on exterior walls, visitors can overlook beautiful scenery of wide Qiantang River and grand Qiantang River Bridge, against distant green mountains. There are a lot of exquisite brick-carvings inside the tower with various themes, including pomegranates, lotuses, phoenixes, peacocks, lions, and kylins.
